A Day in the Sun

Saturday, 27 May 2017

Seems as I'm currently trying to pack 3 years worth of stuff into a suitcase. I thought I would show you some photos from the other day when I wasn't stressed and crying in a pile of clothes and non-descript junk. My friend Charlotte and I decided to go and spend our day off in the park, we had a posh M&S picnic, sun bathed, read NME and listened to Mac Demarco.  Although I am a milk bottle and a predominantly winter person I do love this kind of weather in little chunks with a big help from factor 1000 sun cream that is. I can just about do a whole afternoon in the sun without my brain melting, which will be good practice for when I go to Italy this year! We also had a barbecue on this day as well, although it was slightly traumatising almost setting my yard on fire and burning our retinas, it was still a wonderful day and a nice way to say goodbye to my Uni pals until graduation.

How do you spend sunny days?

A Christmas House Tour

Saturday, 17 December 2016

We went all out this year with our decorating, mainly because we threw our annual Christmas jumper house party. We got lights, lanterns, the lot and we even got a Christmas tree this year, a proper one. His name is Bertie and we have made a bond that cannot be broken, I don't know how I'm going to say goodbye to him. My room was already partially Christmassy because of my fairy lights I have all year round, but I added a few more touches like more lights, just more lights actually. It's kind of like Stranger Things in my room right now, Will?!

I think my Ravenclaw scarf adds another Christmassy/wintery touch and the Christmas cards I'm currently getting from work will decorate my shelf soon enough, but the real Christmas vibes come from my living room:

Look at the silveriness', just look at it! We accidentally bought cool lights so it does look a little like Narnia in our house at the moment and if you do sit there for a long amount of time it can make you feel pretty chilly, but it's okay because The Snow Queen lives here *evil chilly laughter*.

Isn't Bertie fabulous! We have a nice blue and copper theme and seems as my housemate's a dancer we have a few of her ballerina decorations on there as well. We also have another tree on our windowsill that we've had since 1st year, it's a bit battered but it has a lot of sentimental value to us and we still don't know which one of us is taking it home. We might just leave it here for the next students to live in this house.

That's my house tour, it's not too Christmassy but it's just enough to feel in the festive spirit, it's nice and cosy and we're going to be really sad to take it all down. Maybe we wont take it down, maybe the Christmas vibes might help us get through our dissertations, now that's a plan.

How have you decorated this Christmas?

An Autumnal Walk in the Lakes

Friday, 28 October 2016

Today my Mum and I headed 30 minutes down the road to Buttermere, a famous location in the Lake District. We are so lucky to have The Lakes on our doorstep and when we aren't busy we always try to take advantage of that as much as we can. We completed a 3 hour walk/hike around the lake and the colours were just beautiful and the lighting today was just a photographer's dream so I got pretty snap happy. Here are some of the photographs from today:

It was so lovely to get a proper walk in before going back to Uni. My lungs feel full of fresh, clean air. The Lakes are just beautiful at this time of year, get yourself down if you can.

Let's Get Lost

Friday, 23 September 2016

One of my favourite things to do when I move to a new place is take my camera and just walk, take everything in, all the new streets, the new people, new places. That's hard to do when you've lived in the same place for two years but even with just moving down the road there will always be somewhere new that you haven't explored. I took my camera and followed the river, right past a residential estate, past some industrial buildings and then I began to hear water, I continued to walk and I was greeted with this beautiful water-fall-like weir and a little beach and it has already become my new favourite place. There's a sweet shop and a chip shop up the road from it as well so I just know I'm going to end up here with a portion of chips and just my thoughts, sounds like sheer bliss to me. I found my new favourite place today and all I had to do was step out of my door and aimlessly wander, with no sense of direction or destination.

If you've moved to a new place this September or you haven't fully explored the place you have lived for years, do it. It makes you feel so free and tranquil just wandering around with no purpose. You might just find your new favourite thinking spot. Getting lost is healthy and triggers all sorts of creative and calming thoughts.

Now go get lost.
